Homestead Chiropractic serves those of all ages, with special focus in the following categories.
Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) - Gillespie Approach is a light-touch, soft-tissue technique that helps your body release tension & tightness in the Craniosacral Fascial System. Developed by Dr. Barry Gillespie, CFT combines the cranial osteopathic principles of Dr. William Sutherland & the Myofascial Release work of John Barnes, along with dental techniques developed from Gillespie’s own experience as a periodontist.
The Craniosacral System has a natural cycle of expansion and contraction called the Brain Cycle. This rhythm is detectable during assessment of cranial and sacral movement. It encourages the detoxifying and nourishing flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around the brain, up & down the spinal cord, and throughout your body’s fascial network.
Fascia is connective tissue that envelops & permeates the entire body as one continuous network - skin, organs, muscles, & all other structures are linked in this web. Fascia gives your body shape & structural integrity; without fascia we would literally fall apart.
From physical injury, mental/emotional stress, or chemical toxicity, this fascial web can become distorted & tight which causes disruption in the Craniosacral Fascial System and affects the functionality of the Brain Cycle. If not released, the strain builds up over time. This can ultimately present in a whole host of symptoms such as brain fog, migraines, asthma, sinus conditions, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and many others. In infants, CFT can be especially helpful for those experiencing tethered oral ties, torticollis, breastfeeding difficulties, cranial distortion, failure to thrive, colic, reflux, gas, general fussiness, arching, cranial nerve dysfunction, & many more conditions.
CFT is designed to gently unwind the layers of trauma, releasing strain patterns in your Craniosacral Fascial System. Doing so allows for freedom of the Brain Cycle & CSF flow which in turn creates an environment the body needs to self-heal more effectively.
CFT is truly a wonderful technique for all ages - newborns, babies, children, & adults - and benefits a wide variety of conditions.
Dr. Sarah is certified in CFT/Gillespie therapy and offers this service in 30 minute sessions after completing a comprehensive initial examination.

Chiropractic and Craniosacral Therapy (CST) can be a highly effective and non-invasive means to correcting an infant’s tongue tie and improving many of their early life experiences. Craniosacral Therapy for nursing mothers can also offer great benefit, including lactation benefits.
Cranial sacral therapy (CST) is a hands-on bodywork that releases tightness and compression in the tissues of the tongue, jaw, mouth, head, upper neck, spine, pelvis and other structures. It is noninvasive, your chiropractor uses gentle pressure on the neck, head, jaw, mouth and other areas on the body to bring about a change in the elasticity of the tight tissues. Rigidity of oral tissue do correlate to tissues on the outside of the body.
Though each mother and baby are different, some common effects from as little as one CST session for tongue-tie children include:
Childhood is one of the most physically demanding times of our life. The amount of rapid change that happens within the body is amazing to experience. 65% of neurological development (development of the brain and nervous system) occurs in your child's first year of life. Starting with the birthing process as well as the countless falls and trips that come along with learning to crawl, walk, and run we know that kids encounter lots of trauma Chiropractic is a safe, very gentle approach to full child wellness. Newborns should be among the first to be checked for spinal misalignment to remove nerve dysfunction induced through labor and delivery. Chiropractic adjustments for adults are very different from those performed on newborns. The pressure placed on the child's spine is no more than the pressure you check the ripeness of an avocado with.
The biggest way we help with these challenges is that we allow the most important system of my body, your child’s body…the nervous system to get out of a sympathetic or stressed out state… the fight or flight state to a parasympathetic state that allows for growth and development, connection and resting. Adjustments go straight to the source of what was causing your brain to stay ‘stuck’ in that stressed and disconnected state, that sympathetic state. When your nervous system is more connected you can adapt better to your environment. Your child will be better able to turn down the “volume” of their environment. Your child isn’t broken or missing anything, everything they need is within them! We are just helping to unlock what right within them!
Women growing tiny humans are our specialty. During this time we want you to feel supported and heard. As well as getting adjusted we have some trusted people we use as resources and referrals to help get you the support you need! We want to help restore balance to your pelvis to give baby the room to grow and thrive. By removing interference we restore optimal functioning of your nervous system so that baby can grow and develop properly. Getting adjusted also helps to decrease discomfort usually associated with pregnancy as well as labor .
Healing and recovery is a process that takes time! This transition into motherhood comes with changes physically, emotionally, and chemically. Chiropractic care aids the body adapt in its ability to adapt to all the major changes that come with the transition into motherhood. Chiropractic care not only makes the recovery time easier, but also aids to reduce discomfort caused by poor posture during breast feeding, picking up or holding baby.
